Ways to Incorporate Mom Into Your Wedding

Mom is one of the most important people in your life, yet sometimes it’s hard to show her just how much she means to you. Your wedding day shouldn’t be one of those times! This is a day that your mom has looked forward to almost just as much as you, because it’ll be one of the best days of your life, making it one of the best days of hers. To show your mom just how much she means to you, incorporate her into your wedding. Whether it’s during the before-the-wedding planning or on the wedding day itself, she will be so happy to be a part of your big day.

Dress Shopping

Taking your mom shopping with you for the perfect wedding dress can be a good thing for a number of reasons. First, your mom knows you best, and she probably knows your style. She’s going to tell you the truth whether you like it or not, which can be a very good thing. Next, she can keep you to your budget. Brides get so excited and need someone level-headed (you know, someone not getting married) to keep them in their price range in the midst of so many beautiful dresses. Last, she knows this is a huge decision for you, and she will be so happy you wanted her to be a part of it.

Wedding Planning

Wedding planning can be a stressful time, so why not take a little bit of the dress off and have your mom help you out? Once again, she knows your style, and she can help you pick out things you might end up really liking! Have her meet with the wedding planner with you so you can both get a feel for what will be going on during the big day. If the process is a bit too much for you, mom will likely be more than happy to take a load off your shoulders and help out with some big tasks!

Spa Day

With the stress of the wedding planning process, you and your mom are probably both close to your limits, and you don’t want the impact to show on either of you on your wedding day. To let loose and reset your minds and bodies, have a spa day together! She will be so excited to get to spend some bonding time with you before the big day, and it could put you at a lot of ease to spend quality time with your mom for a while.

A Gift

Many times, the bride will give her mother and father a gift before the ceremony to remind them that she is still their little girl, and as a thank you for all they’ve done throughout the years. The gift doesn’t have to be much, it could even be a note or a sentimental item from your past. Whatever you decide, your mom will be happy you’re thinking of her on your big day.

Something Borrowed

Another great idea is using something of your mom’s as your “something borrowed” for your wedding ceremony. This could be the clip in your hair, the jewelry you’re wearing, a piece of your mom’s wedding dress, or anything you can think of! Your mom will feel so special with a piece of her on you throughout your whole wedding day.

First Look

Many times the bride only includes her father or her husband in the first look because it’s likely that her mom has seen her throughout the day. Even so, you can still include your mom in seeing your whole look come together with a first look alongside your father. It will be so special for you to be able to see both of their faces light up at how beautiful you are before your big day, and they’ll be able to stand together and reflect on how proud they are of you in that moment.

Give her a hug while going down the aisle

Another part of the wedding day that your father is likely already taking care of is walking you down the aisle. If you like to stick to tradition and not have them both walk you down the aisle, then take a moment to stop and hug your mom at the end of the aisle before your dad lets you go to your husband. Showing her how much she means to you in front of all your guests will make her feel like the luckiest mom in the world.

If you love your mom and want to show her just how much she means to you, find a few ways to incorporate her into your wedding day. She knows how much this day means to you, and by bringing her into this special time in your life, she will know how much she means to you as well.
